Bonjour Good People! After a long pause, I will continue exploring the yamas and niyamas of yoga. We have already looked at the first three yamas and we are now at Bramacharya. Generally, Bramacharya is thought of as sexual abstinence or celibacy. In fact, it is more pluralistic than that. To practice Bramacharya is to practice moderation of our desires whether they be sexual, food, or material. To be profoundly conscious of ourselves, our divinity, and our vital force. To not waste our energy because of habits but to be aware and present in the choices we make. This yama is one of the most beautiful and difficult for me because I am a hedonist by nature. I enjoy the senses but this reminds me to not dwell in them or let them control me. I found this photo below and it sums up Bramacharya very well. Be aware and have a blessed day!
life, peace, and prosperity through movement.
